#87 Today we give you a brief summary of our ideas for personal flowers for a bridal consult we did yesterday! She loved all of them - and booked with us immediately! Hopefully this creates a beautiful picture for all of you reading as well!

An early summer wedding for a bride who loves Hydrangeas and whose attendants are wearing SeaFoam Green!
...
A bridal bouquet of pale green and white Hydrangeas, white Casablanca lilies (for that do-die-for frangrance) white stock nestled in and a scattering of white roses to make it a real wedding! Add in green Hypericum berries, for that summer feel and a slight hint of lavender waxflower.

Her attendants, all of the above, minus the Casablancas - saving those for the bride!

Sound gorgeous? She was nodding and smiling through the whole process - Make sure your florist makes you nod and smile too!!

Bridezillas are a myth in our opinion - provided they have selected the perfect professionals to make their wedding day special!

Available year round, your florist can offer you the exquisite David Austin cut roses for your wedding day! These romantic, highly desireable roses will certainly add a touch of luxury to you...r day!
Want an incredible fragrance? Some of their more fragrant garden roses include the "Rosalind" - which is a blush pink color, has large petals, and opens resembling a Peony - the "Phoebe" - which is a deeper pink and who's petals are somewhat translucent - and the "Patience" - a creamy white, and who's petals are ruffled. (pictured above)

#72 Fresh or Faux? And some want both!
For some, the idea of artificial flowers is out of the question! For others, like those who want a lasting keepsake, or who's grandmother or other family member suffers with... terrible allergies, faux flowers are their choice!
A few things to consider - any chosen bloom is available year round when it comes to artificial flowers however, not all of them are realistic looking! Yes, some are cheaper but if you want high quality, faux flowers, they can be pricey - like in the case of "Real Touch" flowers. So realistic looking, you can almost smell them - but they more expensive.
And how about those blooms that are in season yet remain very expensive - case in point - Lily of the Valley - extremely expensive however, we have found some very realistic looking artificial stems that can be incorporated into your bouquets and arrangements for a fraction of the cost!
We have an upcoming wedding whereby most will be fresh flowers however the couple want their main centerpiece at the head table to be constructed using artifical flowers so that they can use it to decorate their home. A wonderful reminder of their special day!
Talk to your florist about all your options - a good one will make your dream wedding happen!

#69 Fresh with some Zing Anyone?

Somewhat contemporary, yet reflecting nature in that, the design shows how stems can be "woven" much like we see plants and branches climbing through fences or around a tree trunk, ...this myriad of textured materials would make a stunning piece as a focal point for your wedding day! Limited flowers are necessary to achieve the effect, thus reducing cost, however, crafting the design which involves weaving the materials through mesh, is quite time consuming. Best of all, this will last for several weeks after the wedding with a simple spraying of water!!

Talk to your florist about coming up with original designs, such as this one, for your special day!

#36 We have had our share of last minute brides (4 days before the wedding - yikes!) yes, and then we have those how have already booked us for 2014! Here is a general timeline that you might want to follow when making the floral decisions for your big day!

One Year in Advance - start compiling a scrapbook (although in this day and age, you're more likely to start a "com...puter folder", of pictures, flowers you like and color schemes

8 Months to go - Presuming you've selected your dress as well as your attendants outfits, start looking for your florist! Ask for recommendations, check reviews, do your homework! Make a list of those florists you want to talk to, and set up appointments! Take your scrapbook (or laptop) to the appointments - make sure you chose the florist that is excited about your ideas - this is after all "Your Day" Get a proposal and quote from your florist of choice. Get your "save the date" on your florists calendar!

6 Months! - If your florist isn't familiar with the venue - suggest a visit together - finalize your order!

1 Month - A final meeting is a good idea at this point. Discuss delivery details and set up a schedule regarding setup.

One week! - You're getting excited!!! So much going on but check in with your florist, make sure that your order is all set. If substitutions are necessary - arrange to view them.

The Big Day! - Lets face it - at this point, your heart is aflutter with excitement and it is hard to remember any of those last little details - That is why, 8 months ago, you should have secured the best florist for you! They should have checked blooms that may have been damaged in transit, delivered all the attendants flowers and made your venue look incredible - exactly as planned!

#35 Ceremony Flowers - some brides are opting out however they can play a meaningful part in your wedding! Here are a few ideas:

Presentation flowers can be handed to mothers, grandmothers, godmothers and stepmothers as a means to say thank you for all they have done. A nice idea is to have your florist incorporate them into your bouquet and when the time comes, the bri...de can look as though she is plucking them from her own bouquet. What a lovely gesture!

Unity candle flowers, should you be enacting this tradition presents a wonderful opportunity for flowers. Typically there are 3 of them so have your florist design a train extending from one to another or a lush arrangement around all of them.

Does the bride or groom have children? Present single stems to each of them during the vows to signify the coming together of the family.

Just a few tips on how you might want to use flowers in the cremony, not necessarily as decor but as sybolic gestures!

#34 Whats your theme? Or perhaps "what kind of mood are you trying to evoke?" Many brides look at us and say "umm, I'm not really sure" - By bringing in clippings and pictures of what you like for your wedding day, your florist can help you determine a theme! Typically, when a bride brings in lots of ideas in pink - we can assume that she is looking for a soft, romanti...c, feminine theme while vibrant shades of red can be indicative of a classic, formal themed wedding. Whites can evoke different themes - most commonly, a very sophisticated wedding will entertain alot of white flowers.
Again, not necessarily carved in stone but something for you to consider when choosing your wedding flowers!
Of course, it is always wonderful as a florist when a bride allows us to create "something different" - This allows us to be creative and really show individuality where your flowers are concerned, which in turn, can create an entirely different theme! Talk to your florist, share your ideas - flowers are one of the most important elements in your big day! When used correctly, they make a huge impact. Most importantly, always opt to use a florist who is excited and inspired by your ideas!
