Owner/Principal designer, Karen Flanders' culmination of crafting permanent botanicals for individuals is how Lady Slipper Creations came to fruition. A genuine love of the art is evident in everything she designs from the traditional to the contemporary. As unique as the "Lady Slipper" variety of the orchid family, so are her creations. Her decorative accessories will fit into the overall decor of a room setting on a permanent basis.

 

"FROM NICETY TO NECESSITY"

Commonly known as silk or artificial flowers, permanent botanicals have grown in popularity as more and more people use them as part of their home and office decor. Quality, craftsmanship and technology have improved over the years closing the gap between the look of real botanicals and reproductions.

Permanent botanicals are ideal for people with busy lifestyles offering a low maintenance, cost effective alternative which give a space a lived-in feeling even for areas seldom used. They offer understanted elegance and drama to a room and can often soften a contemporary home or revitalize a traditional one.

Faux flowers allow us to defy the seasons, not only by having summer blooms in the dead of winter but by mixing flowers from several seasons in a single display. Some manufacturers use real materials to enhand silk flowers, such as inserting artificial branches in real tree trunks. Real touches are also added to the false flora; leaves may have holes that look like insect damage, silk roses are complete to the thorns, and some fabulous fakes are even fragrant. Their ultimate attraction may be their least natural aspects; no water, fertilizer, sunlight or tender care is needed.
